(c) Analysis on project management soft skills and the most fundamental soft skill that a project manager should possess.
1.6 METHODOLOGY.
The research of this dissertation was undertaken through the following two methods, which are:.
(a) Literature Review.
This method includes the latest secondary data and information collection from different sources, which can be used or adapted for the survey being conducted. The sources include books in-print, journals, magazines, dissertations, conference papers, general bibliographies, online database, professional bodies publications such as Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (ISM), Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), government (Public Work Department-JKR) resources and publications.
These materials have been used as background reading to obtain full understanding and information needed for discussion and analysis in the research. References are obtained from university libraries such as University of Malaya, University of Technology Malaysia and Multimedia University Telekom, Institution of Surveyors Malaysia and other public libraries. .
The Internet has been used as an essential tool in providing significant information needed in this dissertation. By surfing the related professional organization Internet sites such as Project Management Institute and Project Management Forum.
From these Internet sites, we could obtain the information regarding the concept of project management, the skills needed to be a good project manager; the project manager's role, duty and responsibility could be clearly identified and understood. .
(b) Questionnaire Survey.
Questionnaire survey has been chosen for this research. A series of qualitative and quantitative question were designed and mailed out to 100 practicing construction project managers. The selected project managers are those who practiced in the city of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor state where major construction activities are situated there.
