For answering the questions above, a study on project manager's skill especially soft skill is essential. A detailed analysis on the soft skill also important to obtain the answers. Before that, an understanding about project manager's role, duty and responsibility in project is needed. .
1.3 RATIONAL.
In Malaysia, project managers are appointed because of their technical skills in one of the building discipline such as architectural, civil engineering or quantity surveying. This phenomenon caused most of the project manager neglect their soft skills. Human factors had always become the major problem in implementation of project.
Thus, a research is carried out to aware Malaysian project manager about the important of soft skills and what is the most important soft skill they should acquire. It is hoped that the research can be used, as a guide for them to develop the soft skills needed to be an effective and efficient project manager.
1.4 OBJECTIVE OF RESEARCH.
The objectives of this research are:.
(a) To identify the project manager's role, duty and responsibility in a project, and their relationship to soft skills.
(b) To find out the combination percentage of hard skills and soft skills that a good project manager should possess.
(c) To investigate the most effective ways that Malaysian project managers using to develop their project management skills in real world practice.
(d) To find out what is the most important and fundamental soft skill that a good project manager should possess.
(e) To survey the frequency of typical construction problems occur during implementation of the project.

The scopes of research are confined to:.
(a) Project manager's role, duty and responsibility in the project.
(b) The ways of developing project management skills.
