It was appreciated and viewed around the world, and soon was broadcasted on NBC television where 65 million people watched all or part of the three and a half hour movie. It was "virtually uncut,"" and was the first movie on NBC to receive a rating of M, for mature audiences only (www.cnn.com, 1997).              In an interview with Steven Spielberg, Susan Royal found out Spielberg's most inner thoughts about his most educational and realistic film, Schindler's List. Spielberg, a born Jew, wanted to make a film about the struggles of his own heritage. However, because the movie was expected to lose money, Spielberg had to agree to make Jurassic Park 2. Nothing could stop him from wanting to teach the world about the Holocaust. Spielberg stated that he went beyond Keneally's "fictional- novel for research. He "interviewed survivors, went to Poland, saw the cities, and spoke to survivors- (Spielberg, 1994). This film was shot on location in Poland including Schindler's original factory, his actual apartment, and the gates of Auschwitz. They used the interior of SS headquarters and the interior and exterior of the prison. The only thing that was recreated was the labor camp Plaszow, because the actual one had a 50-foot monument and a skyline nearby. "Mostly every place was authentic- (Spielberg, 1994). He wanted to make it as realistic as possible to make the ignorant believe that the Holocaust happened, not in order to get their sympathy, but to prevent a genocide as big as the Holocaust from ever happening again. Steven not only caught the attention of the world, but he also taught himself, and his own cast and crew. He was deeply touched when his German "Hollywood Nazis- attended the Passover dinner they held in the hotel.
