At Faith Community Hospital the CEO reports directly to The Board of Directors of the Faith Foundation. Its diversity represents a kaleidoscope of thinking and decision-making. The grand point of commonality among the Board members is their support of the purpose, values, and survival of Faith Hospital. .
The problems that appear in this case study are related to organizational processes, ethic issues and communication systems. In communication the problems are if Stakeholders and The Board of Directors realize and understand the differences between ethics law, beliefs and oaths. How are employees and stakeholders interpreting the mission statement? Ethical issues such as patients refusing to take certain medical services and staff refuse to provide certain services because medical intervention can go too far into conflict with their religious believes and moral convictions. Ethical decisions made in agreement with the patient where outside service came in and threaten to sue. Organizational processes where staff that cares about the survival of Faith Community is refusing service to patients without verification of insurance. Counselors are treating patients free without authorization and there has been an increase in the budget in the last year but no reduction in fixed costs.
