In Luther's theology he didn't believe that humans could be saved in the performance of good works. Humans should have faith in God's grace. Believe in the bible not the church. Luther maintained that the pope and all clerics were fallible men and the highest authority is the truth of the scripture. Luther was successful b/c the printing press became an advantage. His personality, he is a highly productive person and believes everything that he does is right. Earns support from the Duke of Saxony.

He sent over support to the Swedish troops in Germany. He wanted to enhance centralized royal power and xpand French influence in the larger theater of Europe. Amended the diet in 1629 by the depriving Huguenots of their political and military rights. He abolished burgundy, dauphine, and province so he could introduce direct royal taxation in all 3 areas. He instituted a new system of local gov't by royal officials known as intendants. Richeliev made French gov't more centralized than ever and doubled the crown income.
