CHINA AS BUSINESS AREA

The losses in wars with Japan and England did not ease the situation at all. Western countries got interested in China's economic life, but the country itself was not pleased about the attention. Western people were classified as barbarians. .
             In 1900 the Chings tried to respond to the demands of citizens by modernisation of governmental and economic system. However, the modernisation process did not succeed and revolution movement strengthened. The leader of the movement was Sun Jat-sen, who had got his education outside the country. Finally in 1911 the young Emperor lost his power and the Republic of China was established. .
             1.2 The Republic of China.
             The first years of the Republic of China were lead by independent leaders. But in 1920's Kuomintang-party was gaining more support. Sun Jat-sen was the leader of this party until his death. After this the party was lead by Tsiang Kai-shek. There was also another party, which was attracting more and more supporters. It was the Communist party established in 1921. At the beginning its existence was somehow secret information. In 1930's Mao Zedong became the leader of the party and his thoughts were accepted as the official policy. .
             For two decades these two parties were fighting for power. However the fights were not continuous. In 1920's the parties collaborated in order to unite China, and they also succeeded in this mission in 1928. Another time of collaboration was in the late 1930's when Japanese tried to occupy China. After Japan surrendered in 1945, the end of the Second World War, the civil war accelerated. The climax was reached in 1949, when the leaders of Kuomitang were deported and communists established the People's Republic of China.
             1.3 The People's Republic of China .
             Many reforms were made right after the People's Republic of China was established. The legislation was renewed to correspond Communist party's program. Organisations of local and state government were restructured.
