CHINA AS BUSINESS AREA


The following dynasty, Han, lasted a longer period (206 BC - 220 AC). It is known as a time of flourishing, especially concerning the sciences and arts. One remarkable thing affecting economic development was opening of the silk route. .
             After Han-dynasty China broke down to three parts. The Three Kingdoms -period lasted sixty years from 220 to 280. The next centuries did not see any strong dynasties until Sui-dynasty from Northern China conquered Southern China. During the short ruling period of Sui-Dynasty the Canal of Emperor was built and the traffic in silk route was increasing. After Sui-dynasty collapsed it was a time for Tang-dynasty (618 - 907). At that time the capital Xian was world's biggest city and the whole society was developing quickly. .
             The next dynasty, Sung (960-1279), saw the emergence of many useful inventions such as compass, printing and gunpowder. The centre of the economy moved towards south because of the Mongolians attacks. Mongolians ruled China starting 1279. The period was called the time of Yuan-dynasty. Their barbarous governance was not liked and they were driven away at 1368, as the Ming-dynasty arose. During Ming-dynasty Chinese made expeditions to as far as East-Africa and trade was developing very well. Beijing was turned into a new capital, and it has maintained its position almost continuously to our days. The later times of Ming-dynasty were gloomy because of expensive wars with Japan and weakening of trade. From these times Chinese have contempt and been suspicious towards foreigners. .
             The last Chinese dynasty was Ching (1644-1911). It was established by Mantchus. The period of Ching was long and it included much unrest. China had problems breeding inside the country as well as outside the country. The governmental system did not work properly because of corruption and that heated up the feelings of citizens. As a consequence for this there were many rebellions.
