Growing up in this Christian lifestyle and believing in what I was taught also added on to the idea of having a good work ethic. Christianity teaches many things that add to the idea that work is good for you and that it gives life experience; things like "honor your father and mother", or "treat others as you would want to be treated" and in my mind that directly relates to work. Since I grew up in a house where there were more projects than people on earth, it taught me that there was always something to be done, to just get things done when my parents asked without compliant, and to help others when I can. Religion was incredibly interesting to me at a young age and because of that it turned me into a "goody-goody". Being this good kid growing up and following the rules of my religion kept me away from the bad crowd and pushed me towards the good crowd, which later helped me develop the habit to get good grades.
Something that my parents always wanted for me was to go to this great university and get a masters degree in something so that I can support my family and have money to help others or whatever. Growing up I always had that in the back of my mind, along with the habits I developed at a young age, and so I always did well in school, I was very into sports, and I was very active within school clubs and ASB. It's safe to say I worked my butt off all throughout high school. I graduated with a 3.5 cumulative GPA, I was the captain of different sports teams that I played on, and I was consistently on the ASB board, whether I was class president or class treasurer. Working so hard in high school paid off and after applying for colleges and scholarships I was basically awarded a free year of school at Central Washington University. After I graduated I had a fun summer doing everything I wanted and spending quality time with friends, but when September hit it was time to move away and attend college and become a Wildcat.
