The report seeks to identify such dysfunctions that are present in many organizations. Although it has been many years since the event took place, Willow brook, a hospital for the mentally was discovered to be a place where horrific treatment of patients took place. However, it is important to mention that dysfunction does not have to take place at such a large scale. .
In any environment where those who are ill are subject to anything less than superior client service, serious ramification can occur. Titelman (2012) citing Bowen (1978) establishes that when people are brought together in a business setting, the interactions, behaviors, perceptions, and attitudes are very reflective to the dynamic one would find in a conventional family setting. In other words, business families have good times and bad, victories and defeats, and dysfunction. Ultimately, when poor behavior and dysfunction become the system norm, the once stable system can implode. Understanding this notion from an consultancy perspective is a critical element in helping a system and its respective leadership formulates the solutions needed to help the system regain its mastery (Bowen, 1978). With this established, the investigator has selected the Oriana House in Akron. .
Background.
In comparison to other treatment sites, Oriana House is small in stature. In fact, the facility has only sixteen beds however, the volume of people addicted to heroin seeking treatment in this facility is large (Lysowski, 2013). The history of this center dates back to 1981 when the founders had a vision that they would find an economical way to support those with addictions. In fact, the Oriana House, began its services operating out of the local YMCA (Oriana House.org, 2012). Eventually, the organization was able to secure its own building and over the years, has continued to add over twenty-five different treatment programs. One of the primary focuses of this agency is to provide treatment to those who are incarcerated.
