Within every organization, there are criteria with standards to uphold in order to achieve statue and maintain a foundation. These criteria build a network of professional values, traits and qualities that provide uniformity, respect, and exceptional character for individuals working in that organization. In the recent decades, there have been challenges that have caused prevention in acquiring those criteria in the health care society. Increase in health costs, continued failure to establish a viable health insurance structure for the country, research demonstrating large variations in physician practice, the advent of evidence-based medicine and the quality and patient safety movements, the availability of clinical information systems supporting the efforts of the latter, and most recently, problems relating to the conflict of interest have all provided significant opposition in pursuing health care professionalism throughout organizations (MacKenzie, 2007).
Healthcare professionalism can be gained, controlled, and is required from all of the participating individuals working in an environment of health relations. Health care professionalism can be defined as the accrued knowledge and behavior possessed by individuals in order to obtain successful goals and attributes for their organization, facility, or work environment. It expresses how conduct amongst individuals through interaction with fellow colleagues and patients should be. It must be predicated through personal beliefs, morals, and ideas and overall encompass the values, behaviors, and attitudes inculcated into us by former medical education and post graduate training (McDonagh, 2008). Individuals who are in the acquisition of these criteria referred as health professionals hold the accountability for the recognition and reputation they display off into the eyes of public. .
