The Neverending Story

             The Neverending Story.
As Bastian read this his heart pounded, he had to have this book. At last a story that never ends. He always dreamed about a story like this. The man was still on the phone. Bastian was anxious to take the book at any price, but he didn't have any money. He couldn't think straight, he picked up the book and ran out of the shop.
He didn't know where to go. When he calmed down he realised that he had become a thief! He couldn't go home. At last he decided to go to school. Of course he couldn't go to the lessons, he was horribly late, and so he went up to the attic. No one went to the attic ever, it was only by accident that Bastian knew where the key had been kept. After locking the door behind him, and made himself comfortable by getting off his wet coat and shoes, and wrapping himself in warm blankets he began to read.
The book began with the meeting of three weird creatures. They all came from different parts of Fantastica, but they had the same goal: reaching the Ivory Tower and inform the Childlike Empress of the very strange happenings in the country. As they talked it turned out that in every part of Fantastica the Nothing was spreading. Looking at the Nothing it was like one became blind and it drew the creatures in itself. No one knew where it came from it just was there.
Meanwhile in the Ivory Tower the Childlike Empress was deadly ill, and no one knew a cure for her illness. Being informed about these disconcerting happenings and knowing that her sickness could not be cured by any healer in Fantastica the Childlike Empress sent one of her wise counsellor to find a hero, called Atreyu. The counsellor found this hero, but he was quite disappointed, for Atreyu was a child around the age of ten or twelve. He was a Greenskin, a kind of an Indian, their skin was green and their hair was blue-black. The Greenskin haunted purple buffalos. Atreyu accepted the mission as well as the medallion AURYN.
