French Revolution Vs American Revolution

" After a series of defeats, the French who were still very bitter towards Great Britain and wanting power back in America, joined the American army. Finally, the Americans were able to pull ahead and in 1783 signed the Treaty of Paris, which recognized the independence of the American colonies. The Articles of Confederation proposed no strong centralized government. After being reviewed by 55 delegates, the idea was rejected, and the United States Constitution was established.
While the idea of Enlightenment was spreading in Europe so was literacy. The French people were learning of the American rebellion against Britain, the Declaration of Independence, and the philosophies behind the Enlightenment. The French were also in a series of wars and gaining nothing but a very large debt adding to the debt caused by the elaborate royal lifestyle. The only people paying taxes were the bourgeoisie and France finally went bankrupt in 1787. Bankruptcy, a severe hailstorm, and eventually famine in 1788 cause the country to become very angry. The Estates General met to establish a constitution and the third estate called them selves the National Convention. People were starving, the nobles were fleeing, and on July 14th, 1789 the bread wagons were empty. A riot broke out, King Louis was arrested, and the Bastille was stormed in a failed attempt. Finally, the Declaration of the Rights of Man was created in 1789.
With the Declaration of the Rights of Man came the new constitution in which the National Convention became the Legislative Body of France. Unfortunately, the constitution still did not satisfy many of the French people. Soon after, the monarchs of Austria and Prussia declared war against the revolution. A few months later nobles were arrested and then massacred at the Guillotine. After these nobles were murdered, France begins to step ahead in the war and radicals quickly took over.
