Educational Psychology

I believe that there is more to life than what we can see, touch, hear, taste, and smell. I do not believe science is capable of testing everything. .
             .
I am humanist because I truly believe in love and hope. I will always formulate my teaching method with those two very important virtues in mind; I strive for the intangibles. I would not be a full behaviorist because I do believe many people's behaviors are the result of their prior experiences. (Ormrod, 2003, p.300). .
             .
I plan to use a combination of teaching methods, I have decided to pull different aspects from different methods, that I find most suitable for my teaching style, and put them together as one approach. I will follow some behaviorist theories, such as classical conditioning, and include humanistic aspects such as love. .
             .
The second area I will address is my particular learning mode. I would have to say I am a combination of a Visual and Kinesthetic Learner. As a Visual Learner, what I see stays with me for a very long time. For example, I can drive somewhere for the first time and give the exact directions to someone else and it is like I have been going there for years. When I am giving these directions to someone else it is like I am watching a movie reel in my mind, I see everything and I can recount landmarks, such as billboards, to help the driver easily find the destination. My ability to remember small details about almost everything has astonished many and without these aspects, as for this example, driving directions, that person would not have found their destination. .
             .
As a Kinesthetic Learner, I simply can learn something by just diving right in and doing it. Although, instructions may help I rarely use them, I have confidence in my ability of doing things on my own. When got my first computer my dad told me to read the instructions he warned that he wasn't going to pay for a new computer if I broke it.
