One thing that comes to mind when thinking of a memorable object is my lucky coin. I do not have a lot of things that are special to me, or that I keep as memories this is just something I was given a while back that came to mind. I received this coin about 8 years ago from my grandpa. .
I remember the day like it was yesterday, it was Christmas and there wasn't much snow that year. Like Michigan weather can be, we did end up getting snow on Christmas after all, so that was nice. After opening presents at my house and hanging out for a while with my brother and parents we did the traditional Christmas thing, which consisted of going to my grandparents" house and having dinner. My grandparents live out in the country on three mile rd. It's a small cozy ranch style home. When we arrived I had seen all the usual faces, such as cousins, aunts, uncles, my parents, my brother, and also my grandparents, of course. Everything was happening smoothly as every other holiday did, I chatted with most of my relatives for a while.
When talking to my grandpa I told him that I had a coin collection, which at the time probably consisted of about twenty coins that weren't worth much. My grandpa's name is Dave Grappin the 2nd. My dad is the third. He is about 6" tall and had black hair; he is a really nice guy and is very outgoing. He is currently retired. He said that he had a coin collection also, so I asked to see it. We went to his back room and he showed me some of his coins. There were all kinds of rare coins I never seen before that were older. I was amazed; he said that he had more somewhere else also. He told me he has been collecting sincehe was a kid and that he also consided it an investment. He let me pick out a few coins of my choice for my collection. .
Then he pulled out a coin that was in a separate drawer and said that it was his lucky coin. I asked him why it was so special; he replied "I've been holding on to this since it was new, and now I"m passing it on to you.
