The long barrow represented the ancestors this is a deliberate linking of the all of the ancestors in a particular area and removing the independence of groups.
             Gusset would not be visible from any distance at some points there would be visibility of the whole monument. The terminals could see some of the monument, however they would be able to see a lot of the surrounding long barrows in the landscape around. It appears the long barrows are in prominent places on the monument, and it the existence of previously existing ancestral sites in the area. The line of the ritual of rites of passage could be associated with this, the monument would be the development of liminal zones and visibility of long barrows which would be linked in the ceremony and ritual of the times and thus creating a new group of federations.
