Reasons Leading to the US Revolution

A war once took place that shapes everything America is today, from the way we live to the things we do. This war started in 1775 and is named for its outcome, the American Revolution. The events that unfolded to start the revolution were often costly and gory, many of which were actions of British troops, and the colonist's reactions to those actions. This was the beginning of the construction of America.
After the French and Indian War, British rule was looking for a way to gain income to settle previous debts. Their eyes and open moneybags were turned towards the newly settled Americas, in which colonists resided with many resources. The Parliament settled on the "Stamp Act", an act that required colonists to purchase special stamped paper for every legal document, license, newspaper, pamphlet, and almanac, and imposed special "stamp duties" on packages of playing cards and dice (The Americans, 94). This act was not too popular with colonists, as it brought on rebellions such as the Sons of Liberty led by Samuel Adams who were a nuisance to those who supported and enforced the act. Another act, the Townshend Acts, indirectly taxed colonists for duties levied on imports to Britain. This, too, brought many rebellions and protestors who caused Britain to strengthen its grasp.
The British decided to pour troops into Boston, hoping that the rebellions would ceases and maybe comply with the expensive taxes. This soon became more of a problem than a solution. Fistfights broke out in the streets over jobs and pay, and soon the citizens were harassing the red-coated troops. Mockery led to bloodshed as British troops laid some led on many defenseless Boston citizens. This event was named the "Boston Massacre". Years later, when rivalry was still at full force, the Parliament dropped the Townshend Acts. Colonists were overall grateful, but one thing persisted, though the acts were dropped, the tax on the import of tea was still in effect.
