Political Assassination

            Political assassinations have occurred a number of times throughout the course of history. Assassination itself has a great impact in society and in the out come of things. Assassinations usually occur when people dislike the president or when other surrounding nations have problems with the president.
             Abraham Lincoln was assassinated while attending a special performance comedy name "Our American Cousin". He was in Ford's Theater with his wife Mary Todd Lincoln when it all happened. An officer named Major Henry R. Rathbone and his fiancée also accompanied him. Then an actor John Wilkes Booth got inside the presidential box and assassinated Lincoln. Booth was racist and a Southern sympathizer, and because Lincoln wanted toabolish slavery, he killed him. .
             Rathbone forced Lincoln's assassin against the railing even though Rathbone had been slashed. However Booth leapt out of the balcony breaking a leg ad rode a horse off into the night but was later captured. President Lincoln did not die immediately after he was shot. The bullet entered his right ear and was lodged in his right eye leaving Lincoln paralyzed and barely breathing. He was carried to a boarding-house but doctors couldn't do anything, therefore and he died nine hours later on April 15 at 7:22am. .
             Abraham Lincoln demonstrated outstanding qualities as a politician. He used his story- telling skills to make many great points, which relieved many people. His political views were very honest and straight to the point. He was very inexperienced with the military but was forced to develop skills.
             Abraham Lincoln began his political career as a Whig. However, that same year, Lincoln became aligned with the Republican Party. He gained the trust of many people by his humor and ignoring the criticism he received during his time as a politician. Lincoln showed great leadership within the Republican Party.
             Because Abraham Lincoln had been assassinated, there were many changes that occurred in the United States.
