Social Inequality


The wealthy schools are packed with well-stocked libraries and the poor schools are lucky if they have update books. This not only causes conflict between classes but also a high level of inequality as well. These elements of society contributor to the instability and inequality of this society. ( Holly Sklar, 1).
             Symbolic interactionist suggests that humans define situations upon past experiences, and than act on those definitions. The legitimacy of the stratification structure is established and perpetuated through teaching beliefs to young, and enforcing those beliefs. Children are taught that ones place in the stratification structure is the product of effort and the will to succeed. For instance, you must graduate from high school and then go to college. ( Holly Sklar, 2).
             In another article that focuses on the inequality in the US. It states that according to the Census bureau.
             "Family income inequality is at the highest level ever recorded, and the income gulf .
             Between rich and poor is growing faster here than in any other industrialized nation. In .

             The concern about income inequality is not an appeal to class warfare, which means that the problem is not the people at the top that are getting ahead, the problem is that they are almost the only ones doing so.
             In the article " Why the rich are getting richer and the poor poorer" it states that "between the years of 1978 and 1987, the poorest fifth of American families became 8 percent poorer, and the richest fifth became 13 percent richer.
