Social responsibility in the McDonalds Corporation.
McDonalds recently issued their first social responsibility report. The company did this so that they would be able to share their ideas with the public. They want to be able to show their customers their plans in the most important areas of social responsibility. They cover subjects such as; the environment, their consumers, and relationships they have with their suppliers, and of course the food that they serve.
McDonald's has locations in over 100 countries. This great business also comes with a great amount of responsibilities. At www.mcdonald's.com, they tell us that the corporation is very committed to their social responsibility. They call it; " doing the right thing." They believe that one of their responsibilities is to give back to the communities that give so much to them.
In their commitment to give back to the communities they done many things such as: Provide homes away from homes for families of hospitalized children, provide meals for disaster victims, sponsor special events, and support educational partnerships. Special words from Jack Greenberg the CEO of McDonalds help us to better understand how concerned the corporation really is with social responsibility; "For our communities, being the best mean they are proud to have in the neighborhood because we are a socially responsible company. The world should be a better place because of Mc Donald's." .
One other responsibility that they have addressed is the environment. McDonalds has been known to be very environmentally friendly. They contribute to the cause by doing things like; "recycling corrugated paper", "using energy efficient construction techniques", and using "alternative refrigerants." Obviously McDonalds is trying to make the best decisions concerning the Earths environment.
The last and, to me, the most important responsibility they have is the responsibility in the market place.
