             The argument that most people make when discussing the differences in big schools and small schools, the small school supporter will most likely argue that in a small school the school develops personal relationships with the community. The parents and the community around the school are more likely to help the administration and the teachers, and because of the close relationships with the school and parents it makes the ideas of everyone more accepted. I personally have not experienced this and I attended small schools throughout my years in elementary, middle, and high school. If anything the community cared less about our school and more about the public recreational fields in our town. I feel that the schools administration is the most important part of the school and bringing community, students, teachers and the school as a whole all together to give the students the best education possible.
             Big schools are not a new invention of the 20th century; they have been around since 1943 and do not seem to be likely to change in the near future. Big schools offer more options and opportunities for the students to explore. It has been researched that at most big schools there is still a student/teacher ratio close to or equal to that of small schools. Big schools also give students a chance to work with more teachers. An example of this could be having a student that needs help with a project they can go to a literature teacher and a journalism teacher to see two different sides of the project they are working on. The different teachers can also show them what their field of work is like to see if the student is interested in pursuing a career in the field. In having teachers that are specialized in one area it is also easier to organize classes so that teachers are only teaching what they are specialized in. .
             Cost is also a big issue in schools. Besides having to pay teachers and a staff along with buying books and more computers, you have to think about the other bills in having another building running; electric bills, water bills, etc.
