If I can change any event in history it will be world war II because in some way it was the most tragically for me. In this essay you will find my opinion of the war and the prevention of it. I think that in some way the war couldn't be stop or prevent, because it was just going to happen anyway. In World War two there were many battles fought. One of the most controversial issues for the United States was not even a battle though. It was the use of the atomic bomb on two Japanese cities. I believe that the US was right in using the atomic bombs on Japan. .
The Japanese planned a secret attack on the United States. It all culminated on Sunday, December 7, 1941 with the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The attack was so cruel in the fact that it was a Sunday, a "Holy" day, and there were no true warning signs. The United States then reacted by joining the Allied effort against the Axis powers. After Germany and Italy were defeated, only Japan stood standing. .
When the Japanese refused to surrender, The United States was not left with many options. They could continue to send men and machines to fight and die, or end the war quickly. It was a smart move for the United States to bomb Japan. During a war, a country had to think of themselves before they think of the enemy. We were able to save many American lives by ending the war quickly. .
The cities bombed were chosen very carefully. Both had a high military occupation, no religious significance, and not a high population density. If the United States were to bomb a city with religious significance, a high population and no military use, then I could see the opposition. But as a country with high moral standards, we chose to pick a city that fit our specifications. Hiroshima and Nagasaki fit our descriptions, and therefore were bombed. .
To take any the lives of the inhabitants of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a very hard choice for the United States. President Truman finally decided to go ahead with the bombings after he sent a warning to Japan that they failed to heed.
