Rousseau

He can not be harmed or corrupted by the evil world. Again, I feel that Rousseau is partly correct here, I don't think that you can assume that someone is good or evil based on where they live, but do believe if one lives in the country as opposed to the city he is definitely living a more sheltered life, which in many cases leads to less temptations to evil.
Rousseau also believes that all people should give up their individual will for the rights of the general will. I believe that if you look at this in a broad sense it seems okay, but I feel the more you think about it the more confusing or obsured it sounds. I don't think you can always give up your individual will for the general will. This sounds good if you don't give up your freedom to only one man or one group, but give it up to society or all people. The thing I find confusing is that the general will is not always the individual will and what to do then? The general will does make a common ground for all people, but if someone does not agree or like the general will, must they always give up there individual freedom? What type of society would we be if this were the case? To me, this is where Rousseau contradicts himself. Is he implying that individual freedom is not important nor does it matter, or that it is the general will that is important. The purpose of giving up your individual will for a general will is so that no one person is the ruler, but if your rights are given up to everyone's will then your vote or opinion really doesn't mater. Isn't this the same as having one person being in control?.
Rousseau had many diverse thoughts on the way people should be educated. Rousseau believed that children started to learn at a very, very young age. Actually he believed that newborns begin learning from the time of their birth. He felt that hands on experience is vital to a child's upbringing. He also felt as though children should be allowed to talk and run whenever they want to.
