In accepting this one can see how the earth is as long as science proves it to be.
Many largely conflicting theories dealing with science and religion were first presented by one man, Charles Darwin. Darwin, who was trained as a minister, presented ideas in the mid eighteen hundreds never conceived, that started a controversy between science and religion that exists still today. His book Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection made a definite line between many religious people and those whose work deals in the scientific field. But why, if one explores and attempts to see a connection between the two it is very easy to reach a medium between the two. Now on a personal note I have denied all agreements with Darwin on his opinions on the descent of man, but I agree and find it easy to adopt his ideas with natural selection. .
Natural selection is easily defined as the selection of mates in ones species according to perseverance of there surroundings. Darwin illustrates this well in a section of his essay Natural Selection, "Let us take the case of a wolf, which preys on various animals, securing some craft, some by strength, and some by fleetness; and let us suppose that the fleetest prey, a deer for instance, had from any change in the country increases in numbers, or that other prey had decreased in numbers, during that season of the year when the wolf is hardest pressed for food. I can under such circumstances see no reason to doubt that the surviving, and so be preserved or selected, provided always that they retained strength to master their prey at this or at some other period of the year, when they might be compelled to prey on other animals" (Darwin 445). The desired genetics are passed heartedly down from parents to children.
I find this very easy to except, after all, what parent doesn't want successful offspring, able to reproduce and survive efficiently in their environment some day.
