I know that a never ending argument can be started over many topics, one that never fails is the discussion over religion and science. Even knowing about the conflict, any time the topic arises people will still discuss and argue over what they hold to be true. Through exploring science, a doubt in God has developed in a good friend of mine; as we talked over the conflicting concepts between science and religion a curiosity aroused in me to explore and come to a conclusion for myself. Although my friend believes science negates religion, I believe that some scientific theories can agree along with religious approaches.
Many people disagree with some of the discussed thoughts on religion and science; I just hope they are not to naive and so closed minded that they do not explore the subjects and relationships between the two. A conflicting example of the two is the age of the world. According to an overwhelming amount of scientific evidence such as identify the age of rock, places the creation of the planet earth to be many billions of years old. According religious theology, the earth is less than ten thousand years old. At first my feelings toward this were questioning, and due to my belief in religion I neglected to look into the scientific theories presented and trusted in my faith. I believe this is the circumstance with many people, whether their belief is in religion or science, discovering one and neglecting the other.
Anyone who believes in God knows how magnificent he is. God has the power to do what ever he wants, so consider the theory that I am about to present. In the bible under Genesis, it says the earth was created in six days. Six days ten thousand years ago, but the world is scientifically proven to be billions of years old so they don't fit right, or wrong. The bible was interpreted and written by man, who defines one day to be twenty four hours long. Consider someone or something so great such as God, what human can honestly say that God considers a day to be as long as sunrise to sunrise, a day could just as easily be a billion years long.
