The family is the fundamental unit of society. It is the primary setting in which children develop virtue. Children learn about love, trust, loyalty, cooperation, and service in the family. They learn how to behave in the community. They develop the attributes of good citizenship by first learning them in the home. As a person who has spent most of her time in family, however, I believe that good citizenship requires effective communication, time spent together, and relationship base on trust.
To maintain a family are must communicate effectively. Good communication skills can help family express love and respect for one another. People can deal with the challenges of life and develop feelings of confidence. As a children I learned to communicate in my family. I also learned a valuable skill that will help me through and my lives. Here are some experiences that I go through in my family. Which is listen carefully to understand. Hearing is not the same as listening and understanding. Sensing what people are feeling requires concentration and effort. Here are some ways to improve your listening. Show people that want to listen. Look directly at others as they speak to, and listen carefully. Allow others to express their feelings even if don't agree with them. Share thoughts and feelings. Once feel sure you are understanding correctly, you can respond helpfully. When family members know you sincerely care, they will be more willing to share.
Another way to be a good communicator is to attack the problem, not the person. When a child makes a mistake, parents should address the mistake without condemning the child. You can talk with family members about inappropriate behavior without making them feel that they are bad people. Here are some suggestions for talking about mistakes. Think about the words use. Control tone of voice. An angry voice can make a small problem bigger.
