I feel as children they should not engage in sexual activity at such a young age. Children have enough time to grow up and deal with their own sexuality and all the issues involving sex. As children I think they need that time to play and do all the things that are associated with children. For example, you see very young children having the responsibility of taking care of their younger brother and sisters, instead of playing outside with their friends. Today, children grow up very fast and don't get to enjoy their childhoods. When children engage in sexual activity at very young ages, that is when you see these kids having their own babies, and not being responsible enough to take care of them because they haven't finished growing up themselves. When I was reading about the Kung! People in Africa, there was a whole chapter on children and them playing sexually. I know that I was very surprised, because these children were very young and playing sexually with each other. Boys would play with boys, girls would play with girls, and then boys and girls would play with each other. If the parents caught them playing sexually with each other they would tell them to stop doing it, but not really reprimand them or enforce that they shouldn't be playing sexually with each other. .
If I were a parent and found my child "playing doctor" with the child next door I would take my child home and talk to him or her about that type of playing. I would explain to them that what they were doing was not acceptable for their age. I would tell my child that I did not want him or her "playing doctor" with anyone, and if they did it again they would be punished. At such a young age it is critical for me to explain to them why they shouldn't engage in such behavior, but at the same time I don't want to get into a discussion about human sexuality. Children at such a young age are very curious and once you open up a topic to them, there is no way of closing that door.
