Industrial Revolution and the change in world powers created

With the spawn of the industrial revolution in the 19th century came a new sense of economic competition. With modern innovations in transportation and manufacturing, the countries of Germany, Japan, and the United States seemed to evolve to the next level. This step up the evolutionary ladder was lead by the spirit of competition and greed. The drive for new raw materials and land for settlers brought individual countries strengths to a new forefront. These countries that had the ability and might to adapt and grow quickly became the new world powers as we know them today. The yearning for economic growth and prosperity from the times of the industrial revolution changed a few countries from the "crevices" of society to industrial strongholds that essentially changed the world's balance of power.
Japan's long tradition of accepting and implementing the West's innovations aided them to quickly become one of the world's fastest growing global powers. Offensive modernization in Japan was increased in 1868 as part of the Meiji Restoration. These changes included taking much of the power away from the long standing samurai run country and giving it to the emperor who delegated that authority and changed their world for the better. The most important step and process of the Meiji government was the process of sending their own ministers overseas to see the awesome power of change. By 1876, the Japanese eradicated the samurai class as well as the luxuries associated with it. Without this course of action the country would never have been able create the defense and opposition force it needed. The creation of a conscription based army led to Japan's new opposing force that led it to be one of the quickest growing superpowers. Therefore the open mindedness of Japan to new innovations and ideas in economy and political structure paved the way for its success in domination in the industrial world.
