I believe it is a good idea to establish a public high school for gay students. Gay students as opposed heterosexual students face difficult issues every step of the way. They get verbally harassed, physically abused sometimes even with a weapon. It must seem as if in the whole world they are the victims. Eventually all of this leads them to skip school often to avoid humiliation. .
Establishing high school for gay does not necessarily mean that they are going to be taught to face and attack the world as a whole. It rather means that they too have a chance to grow in a bias and corrupt free environment with their peers and go to college to fulfill their dreams. .
It is the society's fault that led the gay students wanting to segregate themselves. Frankly, there is nothing wrong with that. People want to be surrounded by other people of similar interests. There are all-boys, all-girls, Jewish, Christian, Catholic, and Islamic high school. People have segregated themselves for other reasons whether it is gender, religion, or race. So there is nothing wrong with wanting a gay high school especially since society frown upon this subject and is reluctant to face the reality. .
I think the next ideal thing to do would be to invest money in school which would educate commoners on sexuality and issues concerning homosexuality. That is what our society is missing: a decent open education on uncomfortable issues like sex and homosexuality. Most people are brought up socially, psychologically, and religiously to dichotomize everything. We are either, female or male, beautiful or ugly, black or white, etc. We tend to disregard everything that exists in the middle. .
Some of us as we grow up try to broaden our horizon to comprehend things. However, some people are stuck in the pre-historic ages and cannot think beyond their "ceiling," which was created by whoever, parents, religion, tradition, culture, etc.
