Prejudice is a negative attitude toward a group of people who have some characteristics not shared by all people. The attitude of a prejudice person is to respond favorably or unfavorably to the situation in which one encounters. When prejudice exists, the entire attitude is negative. For example, a man who is prejudiced against Mexican Americans. He dislikes them and may feel uncomfortable around them. He may believe that "Mexicans are dirty and dishonest. So, he would not want to associate with Mexican Americans. Prejudice is merely the "attitude" behind racism.
On other hand, discrimination is negative behavior directed toward a group of people. In other words, discrimination is unfair behavior to a certain group of people.
