This work was drawn from a personal experience that took place one day in the spring of 1819. A nightingale had built her nest near the home of he and Charles Brown, his roommate. Keats felt a continual joy in the song of that nightingale, and one morning he took his chair from the breakfast table to the tree where the nightingale had built her nest. He sat for hours listening to the song of that bird. At the end of this meeting, there it was, roughly Ode to a Nightingale. In the everyday sound of a bird chirping and singing, a writer was captured, and from such a simple moment of pleasure a profound work of art was born.
