Pride And Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice , the novel, written by Jane Austen is more explicit than the movie which is directed by Simone Langton. The novel give readers detailed facts about each character and their feelings whereas the movie basically sums up the scene with little knowledge about the character"s emotions. Many parts of the novel which have vital information which would give readers a better understanding of characters and events that are unfortunately unaccounted for in the movie. Although some parts of the movie are omitted, the director portrays the film based on the novel giving characters most of the dialogues from it. Moreover, the basic element of the whole novel is illustrated throughout the movie. Sometimes, it is hard for readers to be imaginative when there is already a visible picture from a director's point of view and how the characters are perceived. Often directors fail to capture the character analysis from the novel. This applies to Charlotte's personality. Throughout the novel, Elizabeth's close friend Charlotte, reveals her opinion toward her husband by different gestures but the movie fails to encounter any parts of it. Also another significant part of the novel is when Darcy actually tells Elizabeth why he fell in love with her but the movie seems to delete this scene. Not only the character analysis of the movie is slightly different from the novel, the ending is also differ , giving readers a mental picture of all the glimpses of characters" future.
Throughout the novel Charlotte's behavior changes. In the beginning of both the novel and the movie, Charlotte bluntly expresses her opinion toward marriage to Elizabeth. She believes that if a woman's main purpose to attract a husband, she should not conceal her feelings regardless of the fact if he loves her or not. She also tells Elizabeth that happiness is a matter of luck where it doesn't matter if the two people know each other.
