Prepare For Takeoff

The ticket agents at the counters work as fast as they can and sometimes a problem can arise and they may have to take longer with one passenger than another. Once a passenger is finished with all the check-in procedures, they can proceed to the airlines terminals. A terminal is the hallway where an airline's planes arrive to drop off and pick up passengers. Terminals can also be referred to as a "concourse".
When arriving to the flight's specified terminal entrance, one must always have a form of identification with either their ticket or flight information so a security official can check them. Only ticketed passengers are allowed in the terminals unless a family member has a special pass given to them by the airline's ticket agents. The lines to the entrance of a terminal can be long; therefore passengers are asked to comply. If one waits until arriving at the entrance to look for their information, it will take longer for security to verify the information and it is just inconvenient for others. By just simply having the necessary information ready can help things run smoothly.
After entering the terminal, the next security check is the security checkpoint. Here, one must pass through metal detectors and place any carry on luggage, such as purses, through an x-ray machine. Before passing through the metal detectors, be sure to remove all metallic items and place them in the plastic containers that are provided. Even if a person does not set off the metal detectors, a security official can call for a "male/female assist". This is a call for a random, pat-down check. Here, a person will be asked to step to the side to wait until there is another security official available to scan them with a hand-held metal detector and a quick pat down. This also applies to the baggage being run through the x-ray machines. If there is a suspected item in a person's baggage, security has the right to search the luggage with or without the luggage holder's permission.
