             The emotional play, Cobb, is a narrative of the life of the baseball great, Ty Cobb. This traditional play written by Lee Blessing, allows you to see three generations of Cobb's life simultaneously. The three characters that depicted the different ages of Cobb's life were energetic and entertaining. Their sound projection and overall performance were commendable, despite the few brief pauses and hesitations made by the three actors. This play kept you involved and entertained, by switching from one generation to the next. The text also implies the different morals and codes of conduct that were acceptable at the three times.
             The text of the play is meant to show the turmoil and heartbreak of one mans life. The play shows the disgust and heartache of his life. The first time period shows a young, naive, and overconfident Cobb. This period takes place circa 1900, and shows the early beginnings of the all American sport, baseball. Cobb is dressed in an antique baseball uniform and the short-tempered legend always resorts to fighting to solve all problems. The middle period of his life line really shows the severity of his temper. He screams and yells the loudest while veins on his on his forehead pop out. Here, Cobb is portrayed from a middle-aged time of his life, circa 1940. He is clad in classic hunting clothes and full-length boots. Here, he constantly holds his high-powered bolt-action rifle and waves it around like a whip. During this period Cobb, shows more racial resentment towards the colored adversary, "Black Cobb". Oscar Charleston is a talented ball player who played in the Negro league. He is commonly referred to as the "Black Cobb", based on his similar abilities of Ty Cobb. Charleston frequently brings up not so cheerful times in Cobb's life. The third and final period of Cobb's life shows an old and worn out man who has already passed away. The old and decrepit Cobb talks about his battle with cancer and brags about how much money he has made in his life.
