September 11th will not only live in infamy but also be inscribed in the heart and soul of every American. Tuesday was a day of unspeakable horror and carnage. The pictures and images of the tragedy continue to instill deeply into he minds of the awestruck viewers. The skyline of Manhattan is now altered forever; the twin towers are no more. The symbol of America's military clout, the pentagon, is now marred. All Americans alike must unify to eradicate terrorism on our soil and across the world.
At approximately 9:20 am Tuesday morning, my grandfather informed me of the catastrophe. My grandfather flagged me down as I was pulling out of my driveway, and informed me that a plane had struck the first World Trade tower. I was taken aback by the news but I believed it to be a horrible accident, but in the back of my mind I had a notion that terrorism could have been the culprit. Upon arriving at Augusta State University my teacher briefly mentioned the tragedy but did not disclose any details. I was frantically searching for new news and information but for the most part people were more unaware of what was going on than I was. As a matter of fact, besides my teacher I was the only one who knew anything about the disaster. I informed a few people on the tragedy, and one girl in particular made the comment "Who cares, as long as we get out of school", upon hearing this I muttered "What a cold-hearted bitch under my breathe". .
As I left my first class Tuesday morning, I hastily scampered to my car to find out anything new. I listened to the radio in my car, and to my dismay I heard the terrible news that the second tower along with the pentagon were struck by planes. I was frightened and angered simultaneously at the news, and was unsure how to cope with my emotions. I felt a rejuvenated sense of nationalism and patriotism, more intense than ever before. I walked to my next class where my teacher updated us on the events, then promptly told us class was cancelled for the remainder of the day.
