What is acceptable English?


            
             Over the centuries everyday English language has changed and it is continuing to change. In my opinion we have become frighteningly lazy, almost masters of distortion, in our present-day use of the English language, a language that has no bounds of potential. It truly covers each and every one of life's stories and accommodates science and literature. .
             Listening casually to conversational changes, one hears such misuses of our language such as "her and me", "aint" and overused filters such as "you know", "like" and so on. These convey absolutely no information. These habits also seem to indicate people have utterly no confidence whatsoever in what they"re actually saying. A person who has poor speaking and communication skills will also seem less intelligent even if he or she is actually intellectual. This decline in communication skills is a plague spreading throughout our society. Daily we are exposed to hundreds of misuses of the English language that are quickly becoming more acceptable. .
             The increase in reliance on electronic media has resulted in rampant proliferation of misuses of the English language. When people only hear phrases over the phone, on television and radio and in conversation, rather than reading the phrases in books or magazines, the phrases can get corrupted. .
             The internet has played a major role in the way this generation speaks and writes English. Influences such as chat rooms have made shortened English become much more popular and the main reason for this is because it is convenient and quicker to get a point across.
             Text messaging on mobile phones has dramatically changed the way we write English. For example if someone wanted to say "Hi how are you today?", in a text message they would abbreviate it to "hi how r u 2day?" .
             If a young child uses the expression "I've drinked my milk all up" it is considered acceptable because of the limited vocabulary a child has.
