Recently, I learned a lesson about trust and maturity. This experience taught me not to introduce myself to unneeded attention. I have also learned that not every person can comprehend consequences ahead of time.
.
I am good friends with a few guys around the area, so I feel comfortable with them coming in and out of my room as they please. This one particular incident when I left it unlocked, a few guys came in and made themselves at home. I knew one of them and it was cool with me that he was in there. The other two guys I did not know, but they were apparently friends of friends. One of these unknown guys decided to shoot birds out of my window with a sling shot. I must admit that I have done it a few times and it was a fun little challenge. However, repeatedly shooting and killing four or five birds out of someone else's room, to me, is a disrespectful and immature thing to do. I had returned to these guys hanging out with the friend of mine. While in my room I had became aware of the situation when the Head Resident knocked on my door. I did not realize that the new guests were guilty of this incident. .
The guys that were in my room did not confess to the ordeal, which ended up subjecting me into very unnecessary repercussions. I am disappointed that this has happened. To do this sort of thing where people are constantly in the area walking around is ignorant. Animal cruelty is a crime and an intolerable offense. It is immoral to kill any animal for fun and I would never take part in an activity like that. These birds are just as significant as any other creature. If I had known what these guys were going to do, I would never have allowed them in my room in the first place. It is obvious that it is hard to tell about people just by looking at them. The kid that did it doesn't look like someone immature or thoughtless. I am simply thankful that no one was injured and none of my valuables were broken while I was gone.
