MET Paper

The man is holding her so her head is above his, and her shoulders are at his face. The woman is arching backwards (almost in a half limber), but her body is twisting towards his. It looks as if she is in pain or extremely scared and is trying to get away. There is a cloth hanging from in between the arm of the man and woman's buttocks. It looks as though her clothes were torn off of her because she is nude. The horse's body is somewhat in a spooked position with its two back legs grounded and two front legs up in the air. Its body is very strong, giving off the impression that it is a fast horse. There is some muscle definition in the rear hind muscles.
"Loving Couple" is a sculpture of a male and female about to make out. The statue is not free standing because it is attached to the wall. On the wall, above the lovers heads is a 3-dimensional wheat branch. Underneath are the lovers. The man is standing forward in a free comfortable stance facing forward with his head turned slightly to the right, looking at the woman. The woman is in profile but in a free, lively position. The woman's leg is up with the upper portion running parallel to the man's waste and the rest of her leg rested on the man's upper thigh with her foot totally free but attached to the wall by extra stone for support. The man is holding the woman's leg up with his hand on her thigh. The woman's other leg is standing straight to support herself. One arm is wrapped around his chest and torso, the other around his neck. His other hand is lightly touching her hair by the back of her head. Both lovers are gazing into one another's Mesopotamia like eyes. Their heads are so close, their lips are not far from touching; both are wearing smiles.
Unlike "Nessus and Dejanira", "Loving Couple" is wearing jewelry (headpieces, bracelets, necklaces, foot beads, arm bands and anklets) that possibly represents wealth or royalty.
