Web-Based Learning, Effective Enough To Compete With Traditional Schooling? .
Traditional learning has always taken place at school, however new technology has now taken place and students are able to get degrees through internet courses where ever their location may be. But is web-based distance learning as effective to compete with traditional classroom instruction? Some of the distant learners might clam that it is just as effective, if not more effective then a regular standard classrooms. Whereas, some may clam that the traditional schooling could not be replaced by any means. Their opinions are based upon the purpose of classroom schooling as the best way to be taught, both mentally as well as socially.
Recent studies taken place about distance learning show very high interest; one of the most pleasing things of all is the ability to get it done. If someone had another job, which everyone has in order to pay the bills, they would not have to quite their jobs in order to complete their classes. All they would have to do with distant learning is log on, and get the class done whenever they would have time available. In between meetings, lunch breaks, when your bored and have nothing else to do, and even when your at home, these are all times that you would be able to complete your classes. You could complete a couple of hours of classroom schooling time in a hour through distant learning, and at your own understanding rather then listening to a professor lecture for two hours. It also provides access to people who are unable to attend standard classrooms: working mothers and fathers, minorities, low-income persons (web-based classes are much more affordable then regular colleges) and the disabled. It also provides for people living in small cities where certain educational programs are not offered. If someone lives in a small city that does not provide a certain language or any other certain class, students could take the class even if their teacher was hundreds of miles away.
