These 20 machines are spread throughout the campus, some are in isolated areas that students might not even be aware of. All the machines require you to put either paper bills or change into them, to get an item out. In addition if you do have an issue with one of the machines, such as losing your money, there is not a current procedure to follow, for where you may be possibly reimbursed. In addition the vending machines on campus are supplied by an outside company, whom are not sharing with the college the huge amount of profits they earn each year from Phoenix College students and faculty who purchase items from their machines.
Evaluation Criteria.
In order for group 1 to effectively identify solutions to the problem, the following five evaluation criteria have been established:.
Allow more time to eat between classes.
Students won't have to carry cash to purchase food.
Extra money for students and Phoenix College.
Lower prices for items needed.
Improved Selection.
Possible Solutions (Brainstorming ideas).
During several of the meetings that group 1 held, there were many different ideas brought to the table on how the vending-machine issues could be improved at the Phoenix College Campus. The following is a list of ideas that were brought up:.
Increase quantity of machines on campus.
Contact current vending company about moving machines.
Contact current vending company about changing machine items.
Phoenix College purchase their own vending machines.
Discuss with Phoenix College Admin the possibility of creating new jobs for students.
Student Clubs Organizations being in charge of vending machines, and faulty issues.
Create student ID debit cards.
Purchase Change machines.
Purchase own supplies.
Improve quality of machines.
Add machines that supply non-food/ beverage items.
Replace current vending machine company with another company.
Have mobile vending companies on Campus (Hot dog Soft Pretzel carts).
