Campground Memories that Shape My Life.
Depending on the environment of a person, their personality and characteristics differ. Environment, or place, forms self. Place is not only physical place, or environment, but stature, emotional surroundings, and ethical surroundings. The factors in one's life greatly influence who and what they grow to be, and their views on everyday life. Children growing up in the same neighborhood, directly next door to one another may be as different as children living on opposite sides of the world. Environment has everything to do with who and what a person is or is not.
A place I feel greatly affected my self is Walnut Hills Campground. My family has taken annual "canoe trips" and "camp trips" there since before I was born. I have grown up with an appreciation for nature, and for family quality time partly because of this place. My family is very special to me, and I have a lot of very meaningful memories of them at Walnut Hills Campground. Being able to go off for a week with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins; with my family, and enjoy myself has created bonds between my family and I that I believe would not otherwise be there. .
"Yes, children are happier and healthier when they spend time outdoors. But so, the survey says, are their parents. Perhaps we need to start putting more value and time as a family into the outdoor experience.", says an article from Johnson Outdoors Inc. I agree with that quote because I have practiced exactly what the quote states for my entire life. Spending time with family, in an environment where there are limited distractions (television, radio, media, responsibilities) gives a whole new outlook to the experience. It makes family fun, and it allows more time for just talking, creatively filling your time, and bonding with your family. .
Walnut Hills Campground is a small, simple campground. There is a small man made lake with a slide that goes into the water for children to enjoy, and a raft in the middle to dive off of and sunbathe on.
