For the most part the clients are guilty and the mission of the defense lawyers is to ensure justice and due processes for persons accused of a crime or other misconduct. Being a defense lawyer comes with much pride and much on the line, that's why there is so much integrity in this profession. The job is to promote fairness, and strive for the just and deserved punishment for their guilty client. The most important principal in this established system is that the defendant is innocent until proven guilty, this is a view which has been skewed even today, by the general public. It is up to the jury .
