Metaphor Analysis Of "Field Of Dreams"

Ray's wife, Annie, is a very special character in this.
movie. Unlike the ordinary wife who would have probably discouraged their husband from doing something so radical, she is herself a very intuitive person. Ray and Annie Kinsella's experience in the 60's is a big part of what they were doing in this movie. They are acting out from the moment and not waiting to think about it. When Ray realizes that the voices want him to build a baseball field in the middle of a cornfield in Iowa, he does it. To many of his fellow farmers, he is being ridiculous and not thinking of the money he will surely lose. Ray goes against all odds and goes for it. The characteristics of this metaphor are simple. "I"m" is the frame and " turning into my father." is the focus. The principle subject is I and the subsidiary subject is father.
Next in the movie, Ray encounters a man named Terence Mann. He is an author that both Ray and Annie like. Terence Mann sees opportunity with Ray when he hears the voices himself at the baseball game. For his own past holds on to him also. All of his fame and success never amounted up to what he wanted to do and that was to play baseball. When Ray and Terence go on a search for the mysterious Archibald "Moonlight" Graham they find out that he was not alive. A metaphor that comes from this incident is "It would kill some men to get that close to their dreams and not touch it." This saying is very important for the whole movie. Throughout the movie are people who have desires like Shoeless Joe Jackson, who got kicked out of the game that he loved so much. Then there is Ray himself, who wanted to make things easier with his father, but never got the chance since his father passed away. Last there was Archibald Graham who only got to play one game with no hits in the majors. He was so close to his dream but it never occurred. But with the help of Ray Kinsella, he gets his chance in the fields of dreams.
