In Lord Of The Flies it seems evident that within the human race there is a natural evil within us from original sin, we can only avoid this evil by turning to a higher power or God and acting upon his words. We must be careful in how enraged we get because once we began we are vulnerable to the evils of the devil. He (Golding) shows this vulnerability through Jack who originally a holy person and end up being a blood thirsty murder. Another point made is the fact that good and evil both survive on this earth but in the end we are all judged. Thus, the main point is that we as humans are vulnerable to the evils of this earth, we must turn to God for help and guidance. .
Through Jack we get an example of how evil can take over us. In the beginning Jack was a British choir boy who sang religious songs, thus we get a picture of a religious innocent boy. Then when Jack becomes enraged with the fact he cannot be leader and Ralph is, he goes ballistic. His one little problem with not being leader is provoked by a little voice a.k.a Roger who represents the "main:" Evil. Jack starts with killing pigs then starts killing humans. Yet throughout the whole book he never by hand kills someone Roger does. This shows it is not truly Jack the evil has consumed him. The rage/anger Jack has for Ralph and wanting to be leader is what that evil feeds off of. If Jack had only turned to God(high power) he could of been saved.
Through Ralph, Piggy, and Simon, the book shows the different levels of believing/turning to God. All of them are tempted by the evil but they resist. Simon was a the representation of God on earth (Christ). Simon helped people and knew exactly what had to be done yet no one truly listened to him. Ralph always believed in civilization or doing what is right and that is what he continually tried to do. Even though at times he did not succeed he still gave it his best. Ralph also was the only one who truly respected Simon.
