With all of the devoted people in this world the churches carry a lot authority and responsibility to teach what is right and wrong when it comes to the environment.
             When Thoreau says, "In wilderness is the preservation of the world," he is referring to mankind's dependence on the wilderness. It supports us; we need it for all of the natural resources and for spiritual well being since we originally came from the wilderness.
             Lopez thinks the land is like poetry because it is "inexplicably coherent" Another way of saying that is unexplainably understandable. I take this to mean that the land speaks to you. Also, "it is transcendent in its meaning" which is beyond comprehension. This reveals that there is more to the world than we see. And it gives us spiritual well being.
             Carson is referring to healing as it applies to your mind. " The assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after the winter."(Carson, 24) It puts your mind and soul at ease that nature is so stable and dependable in that way. It is so consistent that sometimes it feels like nature is the one thing you can count on. .
             Emerson is saying that people don't stop from their busy lives to notice things in nature, and that they take it for granted. They view the sun as something that allows them to see but they don't appreciate as being its own entity. They don't think of the great power it has or how remarkable it really is.
             John Muir is referring to the fact that many people think of nature and every thing in it is only here for our benefit. Muir is pointing out that nature is not focused on serving man or fulfilling our every desire. Nature wants the happiness of every creature and plant and for every thing to be in balance. .
             Pantheism is the worship and toleration of all goods. By Pan-atheism Dillard must mean that we have come to believe that there is no god. Instead of seeing religion in everything, we now see religion in nothing.
