Build-A-Bear Workshop: Where Best Friends are Made.
Where can you experience the makings of building a stuffed animal from start to finish? Build-A-Bear Workshop lets children of all ages create their own stuffed "friend." I have been a Build-A-Bear customer for about a year now. I shop there because I have both cousins and friends who are younger and their products suit them very well. I have collected my information for this report from two sources: Kate Moses, who is a personal friend of mine and manages a Build-A-Bear store, and Keara Brown, who loves building bears there. In this report, I will examine three equally important and crucial criteria of this company: customer service, merchandise, and atmosphere. The first criterion that I will examine is customer service. I define this as how well the store performs in terms of greeting the customer, explaining where to begin and answering any questions that might arise. Then I will discuss the type of merchandise this store provides, including the bear that a customer might build and any accessories such as clothing, stressing the importance of selection. Finally, I will analyze the atmosphere of the store. It is imperative for success of the company that consumers who enter the store enjoy their experience while they are there and this is what employees must strive for. It is a job requirement for employees of Build-A-Bear to make sure that everyone is having the best time possible. .

Before I begin my analysis of the business aspect of the store itself, I would like to begin by exploring the store. "The first Build-A-Bear Workshop debuted in St. Louis during the fall of 1997," said manager Kate Moses (personal interview, September 20, 2003). Since then, the instant success of the company has permitted it to expand exponentially.
