Since there is so much entertainment on the internet including games and music, kids spend too much time on it. Not only is this expensive, but it interferes with more important things. Instead of working on school work in, and out of school, kids are on the internet doing other things instead. They may not be spending time with family or going to certain events or places they need to.
It is easy to get into sites that may not be suitable for a certain age group. Most porn sites do not have any sort of block on them and just about any one can download porn. Even some chat rooms may not be suitable. A lot of chat links are for older adults and may contain sexual content. To prevent this, parents can put a block with a password on these kinds of web sites.
Children, mostly teens, may become victims of a crime. Criminally or psychologically disturbed individuals are disguising themselves to talk to young adults in chat rooms. They get close to these kids and gain their trust. When the teen or child thinks they have a friend they will arrange to meet with each other. That's when molestation, rapes, and murder can occur. It happens all over the nation.
The internet is very dangerous in my opinion. Ways parents can make sure that their child is safe is to make blocks on certain sites, even chat rooms if necessary. Also, kids should be talked to about the dangers of meeting or giving information to people over the internet. Schools can also talk about safety precautions. Use the internet for good things instead of screwing around.
