The most important and critical risk to this project is the large amount of work that must be performed and the time and personnel that have been allotted to get the project accomplished. The risk can be recognized very quickly at the beginning of the project. To eliminate the severity of this risk it will be necessary to have other personnel that can step in and assist the team with completing the project. In a company, such as Javacon, other trained employees can perform all of the same job functions but may be on other smaller projects that do not have the same time constraints. They could easily be brought in to this project to keep it on track.
That brings us to the next risk that could cause very severe problems for the project. Javacon has been given $82,000 to cover the installation of the LAN and all the expenses of the training. If the project requires additional personnel to work on this project, the labor expenses could grow larger than the allotted amount of money.
The monies that are for the project and have to cover the expense of twenty workstations that meet the required specifications, printers, and the operating systems for each station. As well as, the training of the network administrators and the users of the new LAN system. This is a risk that is hard to foretell and difficult to overcome. The project manager must constantly be in contact with his financial manager to be sure the project remains within the budget. .
Another of the risks of this project is the large size of the project scope. Many individual phases of the project happen at the same time and require precise timing to get them accomplished. The design phase must be first, followed immediately by the installation and then training of the Agency personnel. The project deliverables and specifications that must fall within the allotted time and budget are as follows:.
             Project Deliverables.
             Twenty workstations.
