Italian Renaissance


Through Plato's beliefs the study of humanism was created .
             People who defended and glorified the value of man's life on earth were called humanist . The Renaissance came into being through the humanists and their ideas. Humanists emphasized that it was every person duty to strive for excellence and individuality in everything he or she did. Humanist thought that individuals were mandated by God to be the best they could be. In all areas, education, politics, business, art, and crafts people were to excel and it was their job or responsibility to do so.
             Humanists also reinforced the Italians pride in their past. Italy was said to be the birthplace of western European civilization and culture. Humanists wanted to restore this belief in Italian artists. Humanist collected objects as works from the past. They thought of these objects as works or art and used them as models for artist to imitate. They admired everything related to ancient Greece and Rome and antiquity. Antiquity is the culture of Greece and Rome . .
             The most distinguished strain of thought promoted by Renaissance scholars was humanism. This was the intellectual movement of the Renaissance. Humanism was an educational program of study and a philosophical outlook that focused on the individuals and his or her responsibilities to him or her self and to the community . It is a philosophy based on the idea that people are balanced beings. It emphasized the dignity and worth of the individual.
             The ideas of humanism spread quickly during the Renaissance due to advances in technology. Due to the moveable type printing, which was invented by Johannes Guttenberg, humanism was able to broaden quicker then it would over before . This allowed for Humanist to print works, such as Greek classics. The moveable type printing helped create inexpensive books about Greek teachings. This allowed for more to learn about the Greeks and spread the idea of humanism.
