The Characterization of Fairies in A Midsummer Night's Dream

In William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, there are many characters with their own personalities. Each character has his or her own interesting quirks. Each personality shines in its own way throughout the play. Three main characters are Titania, Oberon, and Robin Goodfellow. These three fairies have very special differences. .
The first fairy is Titania, the Queen of the fairies. She is "[the] lady,"(2.1.65) of Oberon. She gets very upset because the only reason Oberon has come to see her is because he wants something:.
These are the forgeries of jealously;.
And never, since the middle summer's spring.
Met we on hill, in dale, forest, or mead,.
By paved fountain or by rushy brook,.
Or in the beached margent of the sea,.
To dance our ringlets to the whistling wind, .
But with thou brawls thou hast disturbed our sport.
the winds, piping to us in vain,.
             as in revenge (2.1.82-90).
This shows how mean and mad she can be. She had a child from " a vot"ress of [her] order"(2.1.127), and she would not let Oberon have him because of mere spite. After she awoke from her "vision" (4.1.77) , she acted very nicely, but was a little bit dazed. Overall, Titania is a woman with many moods. .
The second fairy is Oberon, king of the fairies. He likes to get his way no matter what he has to do. He proves he will get revenge on Titania: "Thou shalt not from the grove/Till I torment thee from this injury"(2.1.151-152). He knows how to make people fall in love. He uses a purple pansy and rubs it on the eyelids of someone who is sleeping. This will make them fall in love with the first creature they see when they awake (2.1.173-178). He does have a heart though, when he sees how much Helena wants to be with Demetrius, he tells Puck to put some potion on Demetrius" eyes also: "Anoint [Demetrius"] eyes/.[make it where he is] more fond on her than she upon her love"(2.2.269-274). He feels sorry for Titania and changes her back to her normal state, also showing he has sympathy.
