What I Would Do.
If I were a top executive for Huffy Sports, I would recall the product as soon as possible. Eleven reports is a small number and before that increases to a larger number, product recall would be the best option. Also, an extensive amount of media coverage should be requested by Huffy. In order for Huffy to make people aware of the problem at hand, they must go through the media. Press releases to major national newspapers and major national newscasts should be the type of medium used by Huffy. Again, this message must be sent out immediately and target the owners of the system.
This bolt presents a problem for numerous reasons. First, if this bolt causes severe body damages, Huffy will be faced with lawsuits. These lawsuits will probably be over a large amount of money and losing a few of them can put Huffy right out of business. Next, Huffy has developed a quality, proven reputation over the twenty-some years that it's been in existence. Being connected with some of the major basketball institutions in the world, Huffy holds the power of its industry. If the NBA or NCAA get a sense that Huffy is producing products at a lackluster level, then the NBA and NCAA will take their services elsewhere. Now, without the service of the NBA or NCAA, Huffy will lose market share and most importantly, its power in the industry.
